We could issue points based on their finish amongst the league-only players. (ie if you finish in 4th, but only one league member is left, you get points for 2nd).
I think some version of that could work, but there should also be "bonus points" for final tables, and maybe first-third as well.
Maybe something like this:
Top league finisher: 10 points, next 9, down to 1. Then 1 bonus point for a final table, 2 additional bonus points for third, 3 additional bonus points for second, and 5 additional bonus points for a win.
